“Tell me and I forget, teach me, and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”– Benjamin Franklin

Art is a wonderful way to give students a hands-on experience and develop their creative abilities. Through art, students are shown many disciplines, allowing them to develop critical thinking skills, relate ideas, and express new ideas through their art. Art aids in developing stronger self-esteem, self-expression, and visual communication. The vocabulary and history of art give students the opportunity to express themselves through the written format while connecting historical, political, social, as well as technological advances of the period. “Art is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in.”- Amy Lowell. The thing I find most rewarding about teaching art is, to watch the students explore the materials, seeing the excitement in their creation and the sense of pride in them.
